When People’s Choice caught up with Soffer and costar Jason Beghe at the NBCU Upfronts earlier this month, we asked which show they’d like to see get the reboot treatment. Soffer said he was keen on seeing Friends redone, and even went as far as to dream cast himself and his P.D. costars in the roles of Rachel (Jennifer Aniston), Monica (Courteney Cox), Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow), Chandler (Matthew Perry), Joey (Matt LeBlanc) and Ross (David Schwimmer)…(OK, maybe not Ross).
“I would be Chandler,” said Soffer. “Hands down Chandler.”
For his part, Beghe cast himself as Joey — a character that couldn’t be more different than the one he plays on Chicago P.D.
"I'd like that. [He] was fun," said the actor who portrays Hank Voigt on the NBC cop drama.
And while speculation may be swirling about Sophia Bush's future on Chicago P.D. (the season 4 finale left the fate of her character Erin Lindsay pretty open-ended), she should know there's always a role for her in Soffer's Friends remake.
"Sophia could play Monica, I suppose," said Soffer after giving it some thought.
As for who would take on Rachel Green? The stars decided to bestow that honor on Marina Squerciati, who plays Kim Burgess.
While all their ideas were pretty inspired, Soffer and Beghe seemed most excited about casting Amy Morton, who plays Trudy Platt, as the one and only Phoebe Buffay.
"It would be Platt. Of course. Amy Morton would kill it. She’d do it better than [Lisa Kudrow],” said Beghe.
Now all they need is to find an actor to play Ross, and they've got themselves a full blown remake. Are you listening, NBC?
