Thanks to her captivating turn as Eleven on the hit cult series, Stranger Things, Millie Bobby Brown has catapulted to stardom — but there was a time not so long ago when she wasn’t quite as in demand.

During an interview with Evan Rachel Wood as a part of Variety’s “Actors on Actors” series, Brown revealed that she tried out for the role of Laura Kinney (aka X-23) in Logan. The actress — who is now the face of Calvin Klein —  ultimately lost the part to newcomer Dafne Keen.

Brown explained that she put a lot of time into preparing for her Logan audition, and that she had to recite lines in front of star Hugh Jackman.

“I was like, ‘It’s going to be amazing, I’m going to really prepare,’ and I sat in my room reading the lines,” Brown told Wood during her Variety interview. “Honestly, for me, I felt so — I felt an actor, in the audition room, hitting Hugh Jackman, and James Mangold sitting right in front of me.”

Brown doesn’t have any hard feelings about not getting the part, however. Not only did she watch the movie, but also she loved Keen’s performance.

“I watched it; she was incredible,” Brown said. “It meant so much to me.”
