Nostalgia alert! Raven is back and if we’re looking to the future, we can predict that her new show is going to be a BIG hit for The Disney Channel.
On Saturday (June 3), The Disney Channel released the first trailer for its, That’s So Raven spinoff, Raven’s Home, and within 24 hours, it had racked up nearly 5 million views (at the time of this post, the view count was up to 11 million).
Raven’s Home is the spinoff (or revival) of the 2003 series, That’s So Raven, which centered on Raven Baxter (played by Raven-Symoné) and her psychic visions. The new series follows the same comedic storyline, but now Raven’s not the only one in her family seeing into the future.
“They say home is where the heart is, ya we got heart and a whole bunch else,” Raven’s son, Booker (played by Issac Brown), says as the trailer begins.
The adorable kid then goes on to introducing us to his family, which is made up of his twin sister Nia (Navia Ziraili Robinson), his mom Raven, her BFF Chelsea (played by Anneliese van der Pol), her son Levi (Jason Maybaum), and their neighbor Tess (Sky Katz).
From the looks of it, life with Raven Baxter hasn’t changed too much. She’s still weird and wonderful, and best friends with Chelsea, who she lives with. The two are single mothers dedicated to raising their families under the same roof… what could go wrong?
During the trailer we see a lot of hugs, laughs and new psychic visions coming from Booker. When he learns that he can see the future he tells his best friend Levi, and then tries to tell his mom who lovingly says, “it’s not always about you Booker!”
Now, all we’re waiting for — besides the show’s premiere — is to know what the new theme song is going to be. The original track was SO catchy, so we hope the spinoff lives up to the hit song’s legacy.
Raven’s Home premieres Friday, July 21 on The Disney Channel.
