The Amell cousins are ready to give fans a glimpse of their first movie together!
“We’re making a 🎥,” Stephen tweeted on Monday along with a picture from the set.
The movie follows a desperate young man (Robbie Amell) with special powers as he clashes with a militarized police after committing a petty crime. In addition to starring in the sci-fi flick, Stephen is also executive producing, while Robbie is attached as a producer.
Stephen recently gave shout out to the passion project on Twitter as well.
“Really terrific start to @Code8Movie. I feel the rhythm now,” he recently wrote about the movie, which started filming on June 1.
Code 8’s official Twitter page has also been sharing images from the first few days of filming and they’re making us so excited for what’s in store.
To promote the project, the Amell men have been going on Facebook Live to make a few announcements in regards to their new film.
On day three of filming, both Stephen and Robbie chatted live from the set, which looks run down and edgy, which we’d expect based on the teaser short film that was released in 2016.
“It is happening,” Stephen said about the movie in the video alongside his cousin who can’t stop laughing at him. “No spoilers. That being said, I’m in the movie. I’m Robbie’s assistant off screen, but I’m actually in the movie.”
Robbie then announced that there would be another Facebook Live video talking about how they achieved the money to make the movie. The Code 8 creators worked on an Indiegogo campaign which helped them fund the film just two days after it went live.
Now, they have reopened the page, so fans can contribute and sign up for perks from now until the movie wraps filming in July.
“1.8 million already! You guys are amazing! Thank you,” Robbie tweeted on Tuesday, after the campaign donation page was reopened.
Basically, the Amell men are all about keeping the fans involved and up to date and this is just a really cool way to do that.
