With the release of her first solo single, it’s clear that Camila Cabello is on the path to success. Now, she’s opening up about which other singers have been most supportive of her journey.
During and interview in England with ITV’s This Morning With Phillip and Holly show, Cabello talked all about her upcoming album and specifically about making a name for herself as a solo artist. Despite the fact that she is technically competing for airtime with a lot of her friends in the music industry, she said that both Ariana Grande and Ed Sheeran have offered her plenty of support since she left Fifth Harmony.
“There are absolutely people that are super supportive. Ariana [Grande] is one person that has always been so supportive of me since the beginning,” Cabello told the British morning show’s hosts. “When my first songs came out she FaceTimed me and was like, ‘congratulations, I’m so proud of you.’”
As for Sheeran, who she Cabello collaborated with on her upcoming album, he too checked in with the 20-year-old singer throughout her music making process.
“I am seriously Ed Sheeran’s biggest fan and he knows that,” she said when asked about becoming friends with the “Lego House” singer.
“He’s also someone that was super supportive when I went out and did my thing. He was like, ‘how’s the album going?’” she recalled. Sheeran was so on board with Cabello’s decision to branch out on her own and break away from Fifth Harmony that he actually wrote her a song.
“He sent me a song that he wrote with me in mind,” she revealed. “He’s amazing. He’s incredible.”
Sheeran and Grande are both very amazing people and singers, but so is Cabello, so we’re not too surprised that she’d surround herself with people who respect her journey.
