Say it isn’t so! Wonder Woman 2 may be missing some familiar faces.
Wonder Woman hit theaters on Friday (June 2), and fans are already clamoring for a sequel. Luckily, the film’s director, Patty Jenkins, is happy to comply with scoop about what a second installment might look like. However, it’s not all good news for fans who are hoping the entire cast will return for a potential part two.
Although Jenkins is ready to bring the world more Wonder Woman with leading star Gal Gadot, who plays the fierce superhero, some members of the original cast may not be back for a second installment. Among the cast members whose involvement in a potential sequel remains uncertain is Chris Pine, who plays Steve Trevor.
“All I can say is it was a dilemma,” Jenkins told Fandango in regards to Pine’s character.
Without giving too much away Jenkins teased that time period and location changes in a possible sequel could mean the end for Pine’s witty character.
“It’s something I hope we don’t talk about in the public [because] I want people to see, but it’s very hard to know which characters will be in the next movie because of the time period, so it’s a big question,” she explained.
While a Wonder Woman sequel hasn’t yet officially been announced, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly prior to the movie’s release, Jenkins teased that she was definitely considering a second film, and that she’d want it to be set in the United States.
Despite the fact that Trevor’s ending makes it hard to see him having a so-called normal place in a second Wonder Woman film, anything is possible when it comes to movies. Plus, who wouldn’t be okay with a Pine cameo thanks to maybe time travel?
