We have an aca-interesting update… Elizabeth Banks has weighed in on whether or not there will be a Pitch Perfect 4, and you should probably brace yourself for her response.
As soon as Pitch Perfect 3 wrapped filming, all we’ve been thinking about is the possibility of a fourth installment. Now, Banks has spoken about that possibility during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, keeping her answer vague, but optimistic.
“I’m terrible at predicting the future. What I can say is that I think the third movie [due out Dec. 22, 2017] is super, super fun, and it delivers on the promise of the characters and the singing and the dancing and the comedy,” Banks, who, in addition to starring in the movies, told The Hollywood Reporter this week ahead of being honored with the Excellence in Film award at the annual Women in Film event.
While she didn’t say “yes,” which if we’re being honest is what we were hoping to hear, at least Banks — who, in addition to producing and starring in all three Pitch Perfect movies, also directed the second installment — didn’t rule out more from the Barden Bellas.
“It’s a crowd-pleaser, to be sure,” said Banks, adding that she “can’t wait” for people to see the next film. “Then we’ll go from there.”
While Banks may not be ready to offer a definitive answer on the fate of the franchise, Rebel Wilson hinted back in April that there may be more movies in the pipeline when she posted a video from her last days on the set of Pitch Perfect 3, with the caption “this is not the end.”
We certainly hope not! We just love all these actresses so much, it’s hard to imagine having to say goodbye forever.
Pitch Perfect 3 hits theaters on December 22, 2017.
