Lorde has a few famous friends in her squad, including the one and only, Taylor Swift. While the two are still as thick as thieves, the singer recently admitted that being friends with a superstar isn’t always easy.

While promoting her sophomore album, Melodrama, Lorde told The Guardian all about her friendship with Swift and the challenges they face because of the latter’s mega fame.

“It’s like having a friend with very specific allergies,” Lorde told The Guardian about her longtime bestie, Swift. “There are certain places you can’t go together. Certain things you can’t do. There are these different sets of considerations within the friendship. It’s like having a friend with an autoimmune disease.”

Yikes! Although their friendship has its ups and downs due to stardom, the two appeared to have weathered the storm brought on by success. Lorde also opened up about why famous people tend to gravitate toward each other.

“It’s an element of wanting to stick together. Because it can be so scary to do this,” the New Zealand singer explained in regards to her famous friendships. “These friendships, they’re about having a hand put on your shoulder by someone who knows. They’re about hearing, ‘I’ve done it, too.’”

Swift is definitely known for being the ultimate BFF and shoulder to lean on, so it makes sense that Lorde and the country-turned-pop star would remain close despite their age difference and constant spotlight demands.

Plus, the two artists have a common bond! music! Here’s hoping these friends are in it for the long haul.
