Hilary Duff will forever be Lizzie McGuire to us, but it looks like the actress is okay with keeping her Disney Channel character in the past.
On Monday (June 19), Duff stopped by Good Morning America to talk about the fourth season of Younger, and things quickly turned to Duff’s role as Lizzie on Lizzie McGuire. When asked if she missed the Disney Channel show, Duff made it clear that she’s moved on.
“I don’t, but I loved it and honestly it prepared me for so much and I think – just like it hit everyone else when they needed it to at that time of their lives – it did the same thing for me,” Duff told the hosts of Good Morning America.
So much for that Lizzie McGuire revival we’ve been hoping for!
Lizzie and her crazy antics were totally relatable to all little girls growing up in the ‘00s Disney Channel world, and Duff explained that she too connected to the character.
“I totally related to her, loved her, felt like I was her completely,” she continued. “It totally worked, she was just so relatable but I’m kind of glad to move on from that.”
Despite the fact that Duff doesn’t want more Lizzie McGuire, she still continues to celebrate the show — she even recently pointed out that her alter ego actually had the first bitmoji!
Here’s hoping Duff changes her mind about leaving Lizzie McGuire in the past — and decides to do a reboot. Until then, we’ll always have reruns!
Younger Season 4 premieres on June 28 at 10 p.m. on TV Land.
