Have you ever wondered which TV series was the best of them all? What about which series is the most watched not just in America, but in the world? Well, we have the answers… at least to the second question.
Thanks to the Monte-Carlo Television Festival and Eurodata TV Worldwide, the winner is clear: NCIS is the most-watched TV series all over the world. For those of you who were guessing Game of Thrones, or a popular sitcom, like The Big Bang Theory, this might come as a surprise.
In a press release, CBS announced that NCIS was awarded the top honor, of the “12th International Television Audience Award for a Drama TV Series” during the 2017 Monte Carlo Television Festival. According to CBS, the show — which has won the coveted award three out of the last four years — had 47 million viewers worldwide in 2016.
“#1 U.S. Drama, #NCIS named the Most Watched Drama in the World! Over 47 Million Viewers Worldwide Watched in 2016!,” CBS Studios tweeted on Tuesday (June 20) sharing the exciting news.
NCIS is no stranger to awards having been named the #1 US Drama for the eighth consecutive year. Seriously, Agent Gibbs and his team are kicking butt not only abroad, but at home in the states as well.
The even better news is that NCIS is gearing up for its 15th season this fall, so there is no end in sight for this fan-favorite.
NCIS returns for its 15th Season sometime this fall on CBS.
