YouTube’s Step Up series has just tapped two very familiar faces to star in the upcoming revival!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Glee alum Naya Rivera and Couple’s Retreat’s Faizon Love will spearhead the cast of the upcoming revival, which is also set to feature singer Ne-Yo in a recurring role.
YouTube Originals is teaming up with Lionsgate to bring the revival to life in the form of a 10-episode drama titled Step Up: High Water.
Set in Atlanta’s famous High Water Performing Arts School, the upcoming series will center around a former dancer turned administrator named Collette (Rivera), who’s got a bit of a history with the school’s principal, Sage Odom (Ne-Yo).
Though there’s drama amongst the administrators, it sounds as though there’ll also be plenty going on with the kids who attend the school. Especially when two new transfer students (Lauryn McClain and Petrice Jones) are introduced to the world of the Atlanta party scene.
Though there’s no telling if we’ll actually see original Step Up stars Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan Tatum in the revival, it should be noted that the Hollywood power couple are serving as executive producers on the project.
THR reports that High Water is also bringing back a bunch of principle crew members to work on the latest chapter in the Step Up saga. High Water has also tapped original Step Up producers Adam Shankman, Jennifer Gigot, and Meredith Milton to help develop the revival. Additionally, Shankman is also set to direct the pilot of the new series.
Step Up: High Water is set to premiere on YouTube Red in the fall.
