Season 2 of This Is Us is slowly getting closer, and we can barely handle the anticipation. The good news is that as of next season, which begins this fall, we’ll be seeing two familiar faces on-screen much more regularly.

According to EW, both Jon Huertas and Alexandra Breckenridge have been promoted to series regulars for season two after making a BIG splash during the drama’s first season last fall.

For all of you This Is Us fans, these casting updates are good and a little bad… depending on which characters you love and have allegiance to. The most controversial character, at least thus far, is Miguel (Jack’s BFF and Rebecca’s modern-day husband) played by Huertas. Like it or not, it looks like he’s going to play a big part in the upcoming season.

While Milo Ventimiglia, who plays everyone’s favorite dad Jack Pearson, is okay with Miguel’s marriage to his character’s wife Rebecca (Mandy Moore), we’re still not completely sold on the guy. Sorry.

Huertas’ series regular status was pretty much a given since he appeared on 11 episodes of the NBC show last season, but Breckenridge, who plays Sophie, was only introduced towards the second-half of the season and guest-starred in five episodes total.

In case you need a refresher, Breckenridge’s Sophie is the ex-wife of Kevin (Justin Hartley) and she is located in New York City. Although the two reconnected during the first season Kevin did decide to go to Los Angeles for a movie, so where their storyline goes from here is anyone’s guess.

What we do know is that with the addition of both Huertas and Breckinridge to the full-time cast list, each one clearly has a bigger part to play and a bigger story to tell within the Pearson family.

This Is Us returns for its second season on September 26, 2017 at 9 p.m. on NBC.

(People’s Choice and NBC are both part of the NBC Universal family)
