With the release of her new single, “Sorry Not Sorry,” Demi Lovato is officially back and she has nothing but love for the fans who patiently waited for her return.
The singer took to Twitter yesterday (July 10) to share a heartfelt note with fans, thanking them for being patient as she took a break from music, and hinting at a new chapter in her career.
“I am lucky to be in a position to have the love of tens of millions of people. It’s so unreal! I look at my followers on social media and the people I get to meet during shows and just out and about, and the kindness of every single one of you continuously blows me away,” said Lovato, who explained that “over the recent months, I’ve made a conscious decision to slow down a bit.”
While Lovato hasn’t been completely absent from the spotlight (she appeared on two singles this year, including “Instructions” with Jax Jones and Cheat Codes’ “No Promises”), her last solo single was released in summer of 2016. The Disney alum said she was worried that her decision to take some time off would upset fans.
“Thank you for allowing the time I needed at the end of last year to step away from all the craziness. I’ll admit, I was worried that people would get upset with me,” said Lovato. Instead, however, the singer said she found that her fans rallied around her even more and showed her “how unwavering your love and support is.”
Now, Lovato seems ready to return the favor. The singer teased that she’s kicking off a new chapter in her career, and hinted at even more new music following “Sorry Not Sorry.”
“I’m so happy that I was able to come back to writing music more energized and inspired than ever, and to be able to give my all and more, to this new chapter,” said Lovato. ” ‘Sorry Not Sorry’ is the first of many songs that I’ve been working on, and I can’t wait for you guys to hear all of them.”
