Game of Thrones season 7 is almost here, but we still want some spoilers. Sadly, the cast of the HBO series is all about keeping things under wraps — even if it means filming additional scenes that will never make it on to the show.
On Monday (July 10), Kit Harington made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and confirmed some spoiler news. Well, technically he confirmed some fake spoiler news by revealing that he and his cast-mates filmed a number of scenes just to throw fans off from figuring out what’s ahead.
“What I can say about this season is we had a lot of paparazzi following us around, especially when we were in Spain, but we did fake some scenes,” Harington told Jimmy Kimmel. “We put together people in situations where we knew the paparazzi were around so they’d take photos and they’d get on the internet.”
With Game of Thrones new season premiering this week, it’s going to be interesting to compare what airs to what was actually photographed to determine how much was actually staged.
Harington didn’t tell the talk show host exactly which scenes were fake, but he did reveal that he shot three different scenes that weren’t real. He explained that each fake scene took five hours before joking that it was “on my day off!”
When it came to talking about real spoilers about his character Jon Snow, Harington was NOT about to spill any details, because he could feel the writers wrath as a result.
“They could write some pretty horrific stuff,” Harington joked about the GOT writers team. “They could humiliate.”
Game of Thrones returns for its seventh season on July 16, 2017 at 9 p.m. on HBO.
