Britney Spears played with our hearts, but she won’t be getting lost in the game — or in this case, performing at the big game: the Super Bowl.
After rumors began to surface online that Spears would be heading back to the Super Bowl as its headliner in 2018, fans couldn’t help but get excited. Now, we finally have confirmation about whether or not there’s any truth to the speculation. During a panel at Venues Now Conference in Beverly Hills on Wednesday (July 12), Pepsi’s head of sports marketing, Justin Toman, shut down any possibility of Spears being in the 2018 show, as reported by Entertainment Weekly.
It’s a sad day for Spears fans, who not-so-secretly wanted a repeat of her 2001 Super Bowl XXXV performance. You all know which one we’re talking about! Spears took the stage with Aerosmith and *NSYNC for the epic performance. It was SO ‘90s!
Hopefully we’ll know who will be headlining the big show soon seeing as Toman said an announcement will be made “in due time.” Even though Spears isn’t in the running as of now, we’re not opposed to an *NSYNC reunion at the Super Bowl. What do you think?
