It’s hard to imagine anyone but Sprouse bringing the lovable outcast to life, but it turns out, we came quite close to that reality.
In a recent interview with Wonderland, Sprouse revealed that he was on the brink of quitting acting forever just before he scored the part of Jughead Jones on Riverdale.
“I went over to California from New York for a singe week and I told my manager, ‘If I don’t book anything this pilot season I’m never coming back to this,” Sprouse told the magazine.
Lucky for us, we never have to find out what would have happened if that week he spent on the West Coast had gone terribly wrong. In fact, it was that same week that the 24-year-old was cast as Jughead on Riverdale.
Riverdale marks Sprouse’s grand return to the acting world. He and his brother Dylan are probably best known for bringing rambunctious twins Zack and Cody to life on The Disney Channel’s Suite Life of Zack and Cody. Though the pair found success as child stars, both took a break from acting to study at New York University.
We’re happy to have Sprouse back on television and can’t wait to see what he does with the character of Jughead going into season 2!
Riverdale returns to The CW for season 2 in the fall.
