Riverdale is getting dark come season 2 and the latest teaser reveals that there is trouble in store for everyone’s favorite blonde River Vixen.
On Wednesday (July 12), Riverdale creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa tweeted out another teaser from the second season of The CW series, and it’s making us very nervous about what’s to come. Based on the scoop, it looks like there is big trouble headed to Riverdale and it’s coming directly for Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart).
“#Riverdale fans, please tell @lilireinhart: DON’T. ANSWER.THE. PHONE. BETTY.” Aguirre-Sacasa captioned the tweet.
The tweet was accompanied by a photo of the first page of the script for episode five of season 2, titled “When A Stranger Calls,” which features the comic version of Betty sitting on her desk and looking at her phone with a frightened expression. It’s all very ominous!
Since Reinhart shared the script, fans have been tweeting for Betty to NOT answer the phone, but we have a sneaking suspicion that she’s is going to take it anyway.
Aguirre-Sacasa has already announced the first four episode titles, including “The Town That Dreaded Sundown,” so the latest spooky title tease isn’t totally unexpected, but it’s still got us very worried about Betty.
On a positive note, Reinhart reunited with her TV mom, Mädchen Amick, earlier this week as filming of season 2 began, and we’re hoping it means the Cooper ladies are going to continue to be allies next season — especially if Betty is in danger.
What do you think the newest episode title means? Who could be calling Betty?
Riverdale returns for its sophomore season on October 11, 2017 on The CW.
