When it comes to live action Disney adaptations, there are no shortage of titles to be excited about. Though we can’t wait to experience Jon Favreau’s The Lion King and Guy Ritchie’s Aladdin, there’s one live action entity we’re especially excited about and that’s Mulan.
Though Disney didn’t have much to say about the upcoming live action adaptation of Mulan at this year’s D23 Expo in Anaheim, the company did assure fans in attendance that Mulan is on the way.
According to OhMyDisney.com, the studio even revealed that the film is officially in production.
While that’s not much to go on, knowing that work is officially underway on Mulan is cause for excitement.
With a director already attached to the project, and assurance that there will in fact be music incorporated into the film, all that’s left to do is wait and see who gets cast as some of our favorite characters.
While there are a number of stars who could bring Mulan to the big screen, one actress fans are rooting for to score the part is none other than Jamie Chung.
Chung has already portrayed Mulan on TV, so we already know she’s capable of delivering a spectacular performance as our favorite female warrior.
Unfortunately, Chung revealed in an interview at the People’s Choice Awards nominations press conference in Los Angeles in December 2016 that she might not be the best person for the job.
“I’m so flattered but I feel like I’m a little too old and I cannot sing,” said Chung.
There’s currently no release date set for Mulan, but the live action adaptation is expected to hit theaters sometime in 2019.
