Riverdale season 2 is going to be full of changes, including a new recurring character, darker storylines and the return of a family member.
According to Deadline, True Blood alum Brit Morgan is joining the upcoming season of the CW drama, and it sure sounds like she’ll be adding to the new, darker tone of Riverdale that series creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has been teasing on Twitter.
Morgan, who played werewolf Debbie Pelt on True Blood, will be a recurring character associated with the Southside Serpents this season, Deadline reports. The actress will play Penny Peabody — called the “Snake Charmer” to some — who is a shady attorney who the Serpents keep on retainer.
According to the publication, when Jughead (Cole Sprouse) needs legal council for his father FP Jones (played by Skeet Ulrich, who has been promoted to a series regular this season), he turns to Penny for help. However, Penny apparently won’t take money for her legal services — she wants favors instead. Sounds dark and twisted, right?
In case you missed it, Morgan won’t be the only new face showing up in Riverdale this fall. Mark Consuelos will be arriving in town as Hiram Lodge to round out one of the area’s most influential — and mysterious — families: the Lodge family, which includes Hermione Lodge (Marisol Nichols) and Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes).
Which new character are you excited to meet this season? Are you ready for more Riverdale?
Riverdale’s second season premieres on October 11, 2017 on The CW.
