Hey Violet is quickly becoming the band you should be listening to, and they have a big connection to 5 Seconds of Summer.
During an interview with Billboard‘s Pop Shop podcast the members of Hey Violet — including Rena Lovelis, Miranda Miller, Nia Lovelis, Casey Moreta, and Iain Shipp — opened up about how working with the Aussie band has influenced them.
In case you didn’t know, 5SOS has their own record label called Hi Or Hey, and Hey Violet’s debut album is the first record on the label that isn’t from 5SOS. It’s a pretty big deal, which makes the respectful relationship between the two bands so important.
“I think they boosted our confidence as well a little bit,” Nia shared about teaming up with 5SOS, which is comprised of members Ashton Irwin, Michael Clifford, Calum Hood, and Luke Hemmings. Added Rena: Definitely. We started out as a very shy band.”
Hey Violet explained that the two bands have a very good understanding with each other.
“They came in and they’re really smart. They’re very passionate about music, and they always wanted to understand us,” Nia told Pop Shop Podcast about the guys, who helped mentor their group. “We’ve always had that kind of friendship and respect between us and it makes it easier. We go on road trips and share demos, and I’m trying to think of the right word… ya, mutual respect.”
Here’s hoping the friendship between the two bands means there will be a collab down the line!
