This summer, fans will get to see Harry Styles like they’ve never seen him before. The One Direction member is switching gears from the stage to the big screen where he’ll be featured in Christopher Nolan’s World War II drama, Dunkirk.
Styles first foray might involve starring in a film with some heavy hitters like Mark Rylance (Bridge of Spies), and Tom Hardy (Mad Max: Fury Road), but that doesn’t mean he’s ready to go into acting full time. In a recent interview with the Heart London Breakfast show, the “Sign of the Times” singer hinted that Dunkirk could be his first and only film credit as an actor.
“I don’t know, I hadn’t really thought about it. Maybe not,” said Styles when asked if he’d caught the acting bug. “I might be one and done.”
This isn’t the first time Styles has hinted that he’s not sure whether or not another film is in the cards. In fact, the singer played coy during a recent interview with Extra TV earlier this month when he was asked if he’s looking into lining up another film role.
“Maybe,” teased Styles. “I loved this experience so much I haven’t kind of thought to far ahead, but I really loved this, so who knows, maybe.”
Given the buzz surrounding Styles’ performance in the movie, we’re expecting him to be flooded with film offers very soon — at which point, he’ll really have to start thinking about where he wants to take his career. Here’s hoping the future involves a mix of both acting and singing (ideally, on his own and as part of One Direction).
Until then, we’ve got Styles’ performance in Dunkirk to look forward to!
Dunkirk is in theaters now.
