It wouldn’t be American Idol without Ryan Seacrest at the helm, and now a new generation of singers will get to experience Seacrest as the show’s host first hand!

On Thursday (July 20), Kelly Ripa announced during Live! With Kelly and Ryan  that her co-host is heading back to the newly revived singing show, and fans couldn’t be happier. When American Idol returns on ABC, Seacrest will be there to usher the new talent in, and let’s be honest, we wouldn’t have wanted to see anyone else saying, “Welcome to American Idol.”

“Very exciting,” Seacrest said on the show after Ripa gave everyone the good news. “First of all, I don’t know if you’ve ever been in a 15-year relationship and for a reason you really don’t know you break up… I thought, ‘Gosh, it’d be great to get back together at some point.”

Ripa pipped in and said pretty much we were all thinking, “You make that show, you are the heart and soul.” Seacrest added, “I’m so excited. It’s going to be the best time.”

After its previous 15-year run FOX, ABC announced earlier this year that it would be bringing back the reality competition series for the during the 2017-2018 season.

Seacrest will join Katy Perry, who is the only confirmed judge for the Idol reboot at this time. Perry, gave a shout out to her new co-star on Twitter and we can already tell the two are going to be great together.

“I’m spicy, @RyanSeacrest is seasoned! All the right ingredients are coming together on @AmericanIdol. Have YOU auditioned? #TheNextIdol,” Perry tweeted.

Despite Seacrest’s already busy schedule, which includes co-hosting Live! during the week and doing his iHeart Radio show, he will be in Los Angeles every Sunday when the singing competition airs, and then fly back to New York for his Monday Live! broadcast.

“We are thrilled to be ushering in this new era of American Idol with Ryan at the helm,” president of ABC Entertainment, Channing Dungey, said in a statement via E! Online. “So much of American Idol’s overwhelming success can be attributed to Ryan, whose larger-than-life personality and laudable dedication to creating quality entertainment has made him a true master of his craft. His talent is limitless, and I can’t think of a more appropriate person to honor the Idol legacy as it takes on new life than the man who has been there through it all.”
