There was a lot of hype surrounding the premiere of Descendants 2, and based on the the number of people who tuned in to watch the sequel, the Disney Channel Original Movie definitely lived up to expectations. So much so, that the franchise’s leading lady, Dove Cameron, took to Instagram to share her love for her fans and everyone involved in the movie.

Descendants 2 premiered on Friday (July 21) on five different networks, including the Disney Channel, and according to Cameron, who plays Mal aka Maleficent’s daughter, it was a huge success.

“The numbers are in: 13 million viewers in one night, #1 soundtrack on Itunes and 2nd most watched Disney Channel movie of all time,” Cameron wrote in a note posted to Instagram on Saturday (July 22).

The Washington native — whose character Mal faced a lot of turmoil and soul searching in the sequel — also thanked everyone who supported the film, and her words make us love her even more.

“My heart feels as though it’s about to explode with gratitude, love, and human connection. This franchise is one of the brightest lights in my life, and I will never be able to put into words what it (and all of you) have done for the quality of my days on this planet,” Cameron wrote.

The Liv and Maddie alum continued her touching message by revealing how much effort she put into the role of Mal, and how much being a part of this villain kids world has meant to her.

“It is not a normal human experience to put out something so personal, to be so exposed and vulnerable for tens of millions to see, but you all have made me feel so safe, so seen and so beyond humbled with your love and support, I feel like I might lift off the ground and float away,” she continued. “To all of the fans and the cast and crew: thank you. I do not deserve you. let’s do 100 more.”

We are so with you on this one Dove, let’s keep the Descendants films coming! In fact, we already have a few ideas on which characters should get a movie spinoff. Plus, Kenny Ortega, who directed the film, has a few Disney Channel alums in mind if Descendants 3 happens and we’re so ready for it.
