Season 8 of Hawaii Five-0 is shaping up to be a big game-changer now that both Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park are no longer going to be on the series. Luckily, there is one familiar face headed to Hawaii this season who fans will definitely be happy to see again.
Following Kim and Park’s departures, CBS revealed a number of casting changes last week — including the addition of two new characters. Now, showrunner Peter M. Lenkov has announced that the upcoming season will also feature the return of a fan favorite as Chris Vance will be back as a guest star.
“He’s baaaaaaaaaaack,” Lenkov tweeted on Wednesday after a fan asked if Vance would be back in the upcoming season.
Vance played everyone’s favorite British secret agent, Harry Langford, on one episode back in 2016 (season 7, episode 2 to be exact). We don’t know how many episodes Vance will appear in this time around, but at least he’s back for one come season 8.
In addition to Vance’s return, Lenkov put to bed a terrible rumor that a popular Hawaii Five-0 character might be written off the series.
Who are fans scared of losing next? Steve McGarrett, played by Alex O’Loughlin! After a fan wrote Lenkov to say that they reached out to CBS in an effort to save Steve, Lenkov replied and eased all of our fears with regards to the character.
“That’s not happening,” the showrunner simply said about Steve potentially being written off the show. We’re so glad to hear it!
Hawaii Five-0 returns for its eighth season on September 29, 2017 on CBS.
