Justin Bieber’s decision to cancel his Purpose world tour may have caught some fans off guard, but one singer is applauding the move.

While John Mayer is all about using Twitter to answer fan questions, on Monday (July 26), he took to the social media site f0r a different reason: To stand up for Bieber.

After news broke earlier this week that Bieber was pulling out of the remainder of his Purpose world tour performances, Mayer used Twitter to applaud the “Sorry” singer, and also shed some light on what may have prompted Bieber to cancel his tour dates.

“When someone pulls remaining dates of a tour, it means they would have done real damage to themselves if they kept going,” Mayer tweeted on Monday evening.

While Mayer doesn’t know the real reasons behind Bieber’s abrupt announcement — or at least he doesn’t claim to know — he does understand that every artist is human, and when they are burned out it’s better for everyone to take a step back.

“I give Justin [two thumbs up] for realizing it was time to call it. You should too,” the “Paper Doll” singer added.

Bieber himself has yet to say why he decided to cancel the tour, but his manager, Scooter Braun, posted a message on Tuesday (July 25) in which he hinted that it had to do with Bieber’s well being.

“To Justin who gave it his all night after night thank you. And to those that won’t be able to see it… on behalf of myself, Justin, and the team, we are sorry. That was never our intent. But a man’s soul and well being I truly care about came first and We must all respect and honor that,” Braun explained.

Despite the fact that fans are upset that they won’t be able to see Bieber finish out the Purpose World Tour, which was set to continue this weekend in Texas, Mayer’s words are something to really think about.

When Bieber is better, and ready to take the stage again, we’ll be here for him, and so should you!
