Mean Girls is jumping from the big screen to the stage, and the perfect cast has been tapped to bring all your favorite characters to life in a whole new way!
Last October we told you that Tina Fey was working on adapting her hit 2004 comedy, Mean Girls, into a stage musical. Now, we’re learning that the upcoming musical has finally found its principal cast!
EW reports that the upcoming play has cast Erika Henningsen as Cady Heron (Lindsay Lohan), Taylor Louderman as Regina George (Rachel McAdams), Ashley Parker as Gretchen Wieners (Lacey Chabert), and Kate Rockwell as Karen Smith (Amanda Seyfried).
The Mean Girls musical also has cast a slew of supporting cast members, who are set to portray additional popular characters from the original movie. Cady’s outsider BFFs Janis and Damian will be played by Barrett Wilbert Weed and Grey Henson, respectively. Meanwhile, the play has also cast Kyle Selig as Aaron Samuels, Kerry Butler as Ms. Norbury, Cheech Manohar as Kevin Gnapoor, and Rick Younger as Mr. Duvall.
Though the names of the principle actresses bringing Cady and the Plastics to life might not sound familiar, all girls have made a major splash in past Broadway productions.
Henningsen (Cady) in particular recently starred as Fanzine in the Broadway production of Les Miserables. Additionally, both Louderman (Regina) and Rockwell (Karen) have stared in productions of the musical rendition of Bring It On.
Though Fey herself has written the book for the upcoming play, the Mean Girls musical will feature music and lyrics by Legally Blonde vets Jeff Richmond and Nell Benjamin.
With such a stellar cast and crew, we’re sure the upcoming Mean Girls musical will be totally fetch! Here’s hoping they decide to tour the production— we’d love to check it out for ourselves!
The Mean Girls musical opens in Washington D.C., on October 29.
