Aly & AJ are finally ready to give their fans what they’ve been asking for — a new album!
On Tuesday (Aug. 1), Aly and AJ Michalka (aka one of The Disney Channel’s most beloved sister duos) took to Facebook Live! to talk about their upcoming album. The record will mark the first new music from Aly & AJ in 10 years (unless you count the single that was released under the band name, 78violet in 2013.)
“I think nostalgic is kind of the word we’re getting a lot. Aly and I are really excited about this music,” AJ told their fans during the Facebook Live! interview this week via iHeartRadio. “As you know, it’s been 10 years since we’ve released new material and I’m really excited about getting back out there.”
Fans are just as excited as the sisters is about the new music they are about to release, especially since the ladies revealed that in addition to a full album in 2018 (the release date is still unknown), their first single, “Take Me” will drop this month.
Although we’ve seen the sisters on TV (Aly is on iZombie and AJ is on The Goldbergs) a lot over the years, their music career has been on hold, until now, and their comeback seems like it’ll be worth the wait.
“The music has a little bit of an ’80s-inspired, electronic pop sound that I think is fresh and new, with the chemistry Aly and I possess,” AJ added.
In addition to releasing their first single in a few weeks, “Take Me” will be a part of an upcoming release of a four-track EP, which will also include “I Know” and “The Distance,” and will come out before the full album next year.
Aly & AJ’s newest single, “Take Me” is set to drop on August 18, 2017.
