Pretty Little Liars might be over but one of our favorite stars from the series is on her way to the big screen!

Ashley Benson, who played Hanna Marin on PLL, is set to star opposite Shiloh Fernandez and Josh Peck (Drake & Josh, Grandfathered) in the upcoming drama, Chronically Metropolitan.

In a recent interview with New York Live, Benson spoke about her first post-Pretty Little Liars role, revealing that one of the main aspects that enticed her to sign on for the film was where it was set.

“I thought it was a charming Manhattan story,” Benson told the New York Live‘s Jacque Reed.

Set in New York City, Chronically Metropolitan tells the story of a writer named Fenton (Fernandez), who must return to his home town after a family emergency draws him back. There, he reconnects with his ex-girlfriend, Jessie (Benson), and old feelings resurface.

Don’t expect to see Benson running from danger in the film like she did as Hanna on PLL. Her latest venture sounds more character driven.

“It’s about a lot of different relationships,” said Benson. “Love, family, friendship, loss.”

We’re thrilled to know that Benson is returning to acting so soon after Pretty Little Liars wrapped things up. A few months before the series ended, Benson told E! Online that she was looking forward to taking some time to herself after PLL.

“We worked so long for seven long years, I kind of wanted to take a couple of months off,” Benson told E! in 2016. “Just kind of rest my brain for a couple of months and then get back into the whole industry aspect of it all.”

We’re glad to hear that Benson’s back in action now that she’s had some time to focus on doing the things she loves to do when she’s not blowing us away on the big screen!

Also starring Chris Lowell (Veronica Mars) and Mary Louise Parker (The Blacklist), Chronically Metropolitan opens in theaters on Friday, August 4.
