This Is Us has booked a heavy hitter to guest star on the series’ upcoming second season!
Academy Award winner Sylvester Stallone will officially be making an appearance on NBC’s hit drama come fall.
Series showrunner Dan Fogleman announced Stallone’s involvement at the show’s 2017 TCA press tour panel on Thursday (August 3). In addition to revealing the Rocky star’s involvement, Fogleman also let fans in on who Stallone will be playing.
Fans who kept up with the series through last season’s finale will know that we learned toward the end of season 1 that Kevin had landed a huge gig acting in an upcoming film directed by none other than Han Solo director Ron Howard. We even saw Howard make a fun cameo toward the end of the season.
“Kevin is shooting a big movie and we needed a big co-star,” said Fogleman according to CNN.
There’s no word yet on how long Stallone’s story arc will span, but it sounds like Fogleman and his team have come up with a pretty meaty part for the upcoming guest star. The executive producer also revealed during the This Is Us panel that they “have a great script” for Stallone ready to go, so we’ll be interested to hear how Kevin’s arc with Stallone play out.
Between Kevin’s big movie role and Kate (Chrissy Metz) set to pursue her dreams of becoming a singer, it sounds like the writers have got some big, life-altering plans in store for some of our favorite characters!
This Is Us returns to NBC with all new episodes on September 26.
