Hawaii Five-0 will be returning for season 8 this fall with some big changes — one thing that will remain constant, however, is the friendship between two fan favorite characters.

On Thursday (Aug. 3), Hawaii Five-0 creator Peter M. Lenkov posted a clip from an upcoming episode of the CBS crime drama that shows both Steve McGarrett (Alex O’Loughlin) and Danny Williams (Scott Caan) back in action, and from the looks of it, they are still as close as ever.

The clip shows the two cops standing in some sort of abandoned room, which looks rundown and messy.

“I believe in you, I believe in us and that’s all that matters right?” O’Loughlin’s character Steve McGarrett asks his partner-in-crime-fighting and friend in the sneak peek. “That’s right,” Caan’s character, Danny Williams, replies.

Hawaii Five-0 has been dealing with some major casting shakeups heading into its eight season — the biggest being the loss of original stars, Daniel Dae Kim (who played Chin Ho Kelly) and Grace Park (who played Kono Kalakaua). Following their exits, Meaghan Rath and Beulah Koale were added to the cast.

Given all the shifts, seeing that the bond between McGarrett and Williams’s will remain consistent when the drama returns should certainly be reassuring for longtime Hawaii Five-0 fans.

Hawaii Five-0 returns for its eight season on September 29, 2017 on CBS. For the latest pop culture news and voting, make sure to sign up for the People’s Choice newsletter
