If you haven’t been able to see Shawn Mendes on tour this year — or even if you have been one of the lucky fans to see the singer perform live as a part of the Illuminate experience — you’ll want to clear your calendars for this. Mendes just announced a big performance — and it’s one his fans definitely won’t want to miss.

On Monday (Aug. 7), the Canadian singer revealed on Twitter that he will be performing at the MTV Video Music Awards later this month! Considering Mendes is also nominated for the first time for Best Pop Video for his song, “Treat You Better,” we’ve got a feeling it will be a big night for the singer.

“Performing at the @VMAs this year! Thank you @mtv so excited x,” Mendes announced on Twitter with a trippy photo of himself in a space suit — aka channeling his best Moon Man (now Moonperson) trophy.

After Mendes announced last week that his latest album Illuminate has officially attained Platinum status, we didn’t think things could get any better for Mendes fans, but with this MTV VMAs performance happening, we were clearly wrong.

In addition to performing at this year’s VMAs — which will be hosted by Katy Perry and air at the end of August — Mendes still has a lot of dates left on his Illuminate World Tour. He will be back in Canada, New York, Australia, China, and more, but since we can’t all make the tour, watching him perform and play guitar on TV will have to do.

The 2017 MTV Video Music Awards air at 8 p.m. on August 27, 2017 on MTV.
