Stop the presses! Bones could be coming back…eventually.
While Bones fans only just said goodbye to their favorite duo of Temperance “Bones” Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz) back in March when the crime show aired its series finale, there’s already talk of a revival.
During the 2017 Television Critics Association summer press tour this week, Fox Chairman and CEO Dana Walden teased that Bones could in fact be back in the future – and that, too, with the original cast in tow!
“I think David Boreanaz would be upset with his new show premiering if I said it was any time soon,” Walden told reporters at Tuesday’s TCA presentation about when a Bones revival could happen, as reported by Entertainment Weekly.
Despite Boreanaz being otherwise engaged (he’s starring on a new TV series called SEAL Team for CBS, which premieres this fall) — Walden said that a Bones comeback is something the cast would most likely be on board with — when the time is right.
“I would anticipate ultimately we would happily do something around Bones, and that group was so close and the experience was so good for all of them,” she explained. “I can’t say definitively, we’ve had no conversations, it’s just too soon, and they’re all pursuing different things right now.”
We know that it’s only been five months since we had to say goodbye to the cast of Bones and all the crime-solving that took place at the Jeffersonian, but we’d be lying if we said we weren’t already thinking about a revival.
Boreanaz and Deschanel previously revealed that they are open to a revival — well, sort of, if the right amount of time passes — so, this news just makes that reunion even more likely!
Would you like a Bones revival? How soon is too soon to bring back your favorite characters from the Fox series?
