Niall Horan has been keeping pretty tight lipped when it comes to details surrounding his upcoming solo album, but now we know that the record is set to feature at least one duet!
The One Direction member announced that he’ll be collaborating with country singer Maren Morris for the track “Seeing Blind,” during Capitol Congress on Wednesday (August 9) in Los Angeles, Variety reports.
Morris, who’s best known for her hit 2016 single, “My Church,” has been making waves in the country music scene since she released her first studio album, Walk On in 2005.
The 27-year-old country star was also nominated in the coveted Best New Artist category at the 2017 Grammy Awards, and took home the award for Best Country Solo Performance on the same night.
The country star was also in attendance on Wednesday night, and she and Horan even took the stage to perform the new song for those lucky enough to be in attendance.
According to Variety, Horan said the duet came about when the “This Town” singer took it upon himself to email Morris and ask her if she’d be interested in singing on “Seeing Blind,” set to be featured on Horan’s upcoming record.
Lucky for Horan, his efforts paid off, and Morris accepted! The forthcoming track is said to be heavy on the acoustic guitar, much like Horan’s last two offerings. Variety also revealed that the song has “an infectious chorus,” so we’ll be looking forward to listening to it whenever Horan decides to release it to the masses.
We’re loving that Horan chose to collaborate with an artist outside of the realm of pop music, and we’ll be excited to find out if the former 1D member has got any other surprise collabs in store for us on his upcoming album.
There’s no telling when we’ll be able to get our hands on “Seeing Blind,” but now that Horan and Morris have officially performed it together once, we’re hoping it’ll get released soon!
