With all the hype currently surrounding a possible Princess Diaries 3, we’ve been taking a trip down memory lane and looking back at some of the franchise’s most memorable characters.
In addition to Chris Pine, who played Nicholas Devereaux in the second film — The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, another notable standout in the franchise was Mandy Moore, who portrayed the mean girl, Lana Thomas, in the first movie. Back in 2016, we caught up with Moore and asked her if she’d be willing to bring back her prep-school character if in fact a third movie happens, and she was a little hesitant.
Despite the fact that she wasn’t in the second movie, Moore did have an idea of what her character might be up to these days.
“Maybe she had fallen on hard times and now she’s doing something better with her life. Like volunteering, doing some charity work — there’s a real about face from her,” Moore told us about Lana.
Come on, this storyline would be great to somehow tie into the Princess Diaries film franchise, don’t you think? Maybe Lana could cross paths with Mia Thermopolis (Anne Hathaway) at a charity benefit and they could try and make up, since they weren’t on great terms in the first film.
Although Moore doesn’t know how her character would fit into a potential third installment of the princess-centered films, Raven-Symoné, who was a Royal Engagement addition is ready and willing to reunite with Julie Andrews aka Queen Clarisse Renaldi.
Moore, Symoné, Hathaway, Pine and Andrews all together in Princess Diaries 3 sounds like a good idea to us! What do you think?
