It’s finally here — your first look at life the upcoming Grey’s Anatomy spinoff!
Last month, Deadline announced that Jaina Lee Ortiz was set to star in Shonda Rhimes’ latest ABC venture, a Grey’s Anatomy spinoff that will be all about firefighters. While, we still don’t know who Ortiz will be playing (it’s most-likely the female lead), it looks like she’s already settling into her new role.
On Tuesday (Aug. 22), a fan posted a video capture of Ortiz’s Instagram story that gives a glimpse of set life on the spinoff. The video shows the Rosewood alum inside a fire truck that is full of firefighter suits, as well as a few filming devices.
Plus, we get to see Ortiz on set, and she is smiling from ear-to-ear as she shows off her new digs, assuming she is in fact a firefighter on the show, which we’re really hoping she is.
As of now, the new show, which is set for a midseason premiere, has yet to be titled, but it will follow a group of firefighters in Seattle (aka where Grey’s Anatomy is also set) and will be 10 episodes to start.
Ortiz is the only cast member currently on board (and announced), but she will be joined by Paris Barclay as the producing director and executive producer on the show. Barclay previously shared a few pictures from his new “theatrical home” in Seattle. Now, thanks to Ortiz, we have a glimpse of the set to go with these scenic photos. We’re ready for all the firefighter action they can give us.
Ortiz will not only be working with Barclay, but she will be guided by Rhimes and Betsy Beers who are executive producers on the series, and Stacy McKee, who, according to E! Online, will be the co-writing the show.
