If ever there was ever a stage where anything goes, its the MTV Video Music Awards. Over the years, the annual telecast has played host to surprising pop star collaborations, at least one big-time (Beyoncé) baby announcement, and a lot of spotlight-grabbing moments. Needless to say, this year’s VMAs – which will air live on MTV from the Forum Arena in Inglewood, Ca., on Sunday (Aug. 27) — has a lot to live up to, and from what we know so far, the show seems more than poised to deliver.

Here’s everything you need to know about the 2017 VMAs:

What time do the VMAs start?

The 2017 VMAs will air live from the Forum in Inglewood, California, on Sunday, August 27 at 8/7c.

Is there a pre-show?

Yep! You can catch the pre-show at 6/5c on MTV. Besides interviews with talent, look for performances by Bleachers, Khalid, and Cardi B, who will be on-hand to warm up the viewing audience before the main show kicks off a little later in the evening.

Who’s hosting the VMAs?

The Moon Person behind the mic this year will be none other than Katy Perry. The “Swish, Swish” singer took to Twitter last month to announce that she would be taking the reigns on this year’s show, warning fans to “brace for impact” along the way. Considering all that’s gone down in VMAs history — as well as this year’s epic performer lineup— that seems like good advice to follow.

What about the performers?

Perry will be pulling double duty on the big night — besides hosting, the nominee (yes, she’s up for 5 awards), is also performing — but she’s far from the only artist taking over the stage. In fact, including Perry, this year’s VMAs boasts more than a dozen performers —  including Miley Cyrus, Shawn Mendes, Ed Sheeran, Lorde, Kendrick Lamar, and 30 Seconds To Mars, to name just a few. Meanwhile, singers Alessia Cara and Kyle are set to make their VMAs debut.

Who are the nominees?

It’s shaping up to be a winning night for Kendrick Lamar. The hip-hop artist is going in strong with an astounding eight nominations, including “Video of the Year.” Coming in a close second are Katy Perry and the Weeknd, who are tied with five nominations each to their name. One Direction’s Harry Styles is also bound to cement himself as a solo artist with two nominations for his single, “Sign of the Times.”

Is anyone being honored?

While most winners are being kept under wraps, MTV has already revealed one honorary and it’s none other than P!nk. Along with performing her latest single, “What About Us,” off her upcoming seventh album, the singer will be taking home the coveted Vanguard Award.

The 2017 VMAs will air live from the Forum in Inglewood, California, on Sunday, August 27 at 8/7c.
