With Chicago Fire set to return for season 6 next month, fans are already asking about future episodes and storylines.
While most of the scoops about the season 6 so far have centered on what’s ahead for the NBC drama, what’s equally as important is what fans won’t see next season.
During his weekly Twitter Q&A, Derek Haas, the creator of Chicago Fire, revealed that there is one thing you won’t be seeing this fall — and perhaps at all in the upcoming season. After a fan tweeted Haas to ask whether there would be another gala episode in season 6, the showrunner decided to break some bad news.
“We have no plans for a gala episode, at least through the first half,” Haas tweeted on Sunday in response to a fan.
The lack of a gala is disappointing particularly because the show’s season 4 gala-centered episode was so stellar. Plus, it’s always fun to see our our favorite firefighters — including Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer), Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) and Gabriela Dawson (Monica Raymund) — trading in their everyday firefighter gear for fancy suits and dresses (which they did again in season 5 for an anniversary party).
While you might not see the men and women from Firehouse 51 in their finest this season, Haas previously teased that there will be a time jump during the premiere episode that will send the show into the summer months, which we can’t wait to see it unfold. There’s also a chance of a Chicago Fire crossover episode, come the second half of the season.
If you still have your heart set on a gala, however, don’t give up hope just yet. After all, Haas only said there are no plans for a gala episode in the first half of the season — which he means he could always decide to move ahead with one in the second half!
Chicago Fire returns for season 6 on September 28, 2017 on NBC.
