In a recent interview with TVLine, Hawaii Five-0 showrunner Peter M. Lenkov revealed that one of his favorite side-plots of season 8 doesn’t have anything to do with crime at all. Instead, it involves Danny and Steve going on about how they’d love to open a restaurant someday.
The surprising revelation of one of our favorite duos getting into the food industry together might seem like it’s coming out of left field. As Lenkov explains, however, the ongoing conversation about opening a restaurant called “Steve’s” actually ties into the larger underlying theme of legacy that the series will continue to explore this season.
“A big part of last year and this year is talking about people’s legacies and what they leave behind,” Lenkov told TVLine. “And [Steve and Danny] sort of star this side project…which is a lot of fun for them to be doing.”
As much as we’d love to see Danny and Steve’s restaurant dreams become a reality, we’re sure it’ll be years before they’ll actually be able to follow through with their new business venture!
Restaurants aside, season 8 sounds like it’s gearing up to be a pretty exciting year for our favorite dynamic duo.
One of the things we’re most looking forward to is seeing Steve and Danny team up with none other than British secret agent Harry Langford (Chris Vance). Fans caught wind of the fact that Vance would be back to portray the fan favorite in season 8 back in July when Lenkov teased the Brit’s return.
Earlier this month Lenkov also teased fans with a tiny sneak peek of Steve, Danny and Harry back in action in the second episode of the season.
We can’t wait to see what season 8 holds for all of our favorites!
Hawaii Five-0 returns for season 8 on September 29 on CBS.
