Tuesday (August 29) is a pretty special day for Horan as it marks the first-ever performance of his Flicker Sessions solo tour. To add to the milestone, the first show just so happens to be in his home country of Ireland. It’s clear the moment isn’t lost on the “This Town” singer.
Horan took to Twitter to mark the occasion, and to let fans know how he was feeling about kicking off his first solo tour later that night.
“Ireland, I’m home,” wrote Horan via Twitter. “Really excited and nervous for tonight!”
Horan announced the 14-date tour this past June, citing his desire to keep things “intimate.”
“Niall wants to give his fans a unique experience and has chosen to play small, intimate venues,” read a note posted along with the tour announcement on Horan’s official website.
For his first show in Ireland, Horan’s chosen to play at the Olympia Theatre in Dublin, which also happens to be a venue he’s incredibly familiar with.
In a separate post, Horan took to Instagram to post a photo of himself and his buddy and Wild Youth band member Connor, who will also be playing at the concert tonight as part of the opening act.
“Pretty cool that one of my best mates and his @bandwildyouth will be playing this place tonight with me,” wrote Horan in the caption of a photo featuring both guys standing in front of the venue. “Went to so many gigs here over the years and I can’t believe I’m playing it tonight.”
We love that the first venue for the Flicker Sessions tour holds such a special meaning to Niall Horan, and wish him the best on the rest of his tour!
