Niall Horan might be riding high on the success of his solo career, but it’s clear that he hasn’t forgotten where he came from.
Horan officially kicked off his Flicker Sessions solo tour in Dublin, Ireland on Wednesday (August 29) night. Though fans in attendance were there to listen to Horan’s solo material, they got the surprise of a lifetime when the “This Town” singer incorporated a One Direction song into his set.
As J-14 points out, fans uploaded footage of the Irish singer performing a stripped back acoustic version of 1D’s “Fools Gold.” Though the beautiful ballad was never a single, Directioners far and wide will undoubtedly recognize the track as one off the band’s album, Four.
One Direction nods aside, it sounds like Horan was quite pleased with the way his first Flicker Sessions show went. While Horan admitted to feeling “nervous” ahead of the concert, after it was over, the singer took to Twitter to thank all of his fans for coming out for the special night.
“Dublin. Thank you so much for tonight. Starting the Flicker Sessions in my homeland was incredible,” tweeted Horan. “Also I really appreciate how respectful you guys were. Listening to every word and enjoying the music.”
Horan’s intimate 14-date tour is set to hit a handful of cities in the U.K, and Australia, before making its way over to North America.
Given that Tuesday night’s show was just the beginning, we’re glad to hear that Niall Horan’s Flicker Sessions tour is off to a good start!
