The Chicago TV universe may be comprised of different shows, but ultimately, it’s all one family, which is why the possibility of seeing all the different units come together in a crossover episode is always so exciting — not just for fans, but the series’ creators, too.
In fact, Chicago Fire creator Derek Haas is already thinking about the next “family” reunion, especially when it comes to which fellow Chicago stars he’d like to see interacting with his crew of firefighters again.
The revelation came after a fan asked Haas if he missed Chicago P.D. stars Jesse Lee Soffer (who plays Detective Jay Halstead), Marina Squerciati (who plays Kim Burgess), and LaRoyce Hawkins (who plays Kevin Atwater).
“Tremendously,” Haas replied when asked how much he missed those three actors. “Which is why I gotta make sure they’re in this crossover (whenever that is).”
A Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D. crossover this season? That’s just what we need now that Detective Erin Lindsay (Sophia Bush) will no longer be leadinging the charge on P.D. and after Fire was dealt with a major cliffhanger in season five.
Although Haas teased having three big stars from P.D. hangout with Fire fan favorites like Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) and Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney), he previously revealed that a Chicago crossover isn’t on the schedule for this season — at least not yet.
He did, however, tell The Hollywood Reporter that “we’ll have some P.D. [stars] showing up on Fire, but not a big major crossover until the new year.”
Could Soffer, Squerciati and Hawkins be the P.D. stars to come over this fall? We will have to wait and see!
Chicago Fire returns for season 6 on September 28, 2017 on NBC.
