Get ready, Sam Smith fans, because September is quickly shaping up to be the best month ever!
On Monday (Sept. 4), Smith treated fans to a double dose of good news — revealing both the title of his upcoming single and the artwork for the track.
“’Too Good At Goodbyes’. 8th September 2017. So excited for you to hear the new single xx,” Smith captioned a post announcing the single on Instagram. From the expression on the British singer’s face, he’s equally as excited as we are about this new track dropping this Friday.
The artwork for this tune is a black-and-white shot of flowers. Although they look beautiful from afar, if you look closer, you can see that some of the flowers are a little wilted and sad looking, which is fitting with the song title choice.
The announcement of “Too Good At Goodbye” comes after Smith teased that new music was coming via billboards in London, Los Angeles and New York last week. Smith’s debut album, In the Lonely Hour, was released in 2014, and his last single, “Lay Me Down,” was a re-release in 2015. Needless to say, fans have anxiously been awaiting a follow-up ever since. Last week, the singer wrote a sweet letter to his fans thanking them for their patience when it comes to his music making process.
“I am scared & excited at the same time,” Smith wrote in the heartfelt letter he penned to his fans. “I’ve poured my soul and heart into this record.”
The anticipation for his new track is almost too much to handle, but luckily we only have to wait a few more days to hear it!
“Too Good At Goodbyes” will drop on September 8, 2017.
