If you’re a fan of Louis Tomlinson, then you’ve probably been counting down the days until the singer announces when his first solo record will be released. Now, we finally know what’s holding Tomlinson back from making that announcement.
While chatting with iHeartRadio this week, Tomlinson got candid about his upcoming album, which will feature his hit single, “Back to You” with Bebe Rexha, and explained once and for all why he’s taking his time with the release.
“I’m very much a perfectionist,” Tomlinson told iHeartRadio about his longer album-making process. “But I am nervous about it, because I want it to be as good as it can be, obviously.
The British singer wants his first solo album to tell a story that he’s had in his mind for a long time, and getting everything the way he wants it takes time, which is both good and bad news. It’s good because when the album does drop it will be awesome, but it’s bad because fans have to continue to wait for new music.
“I’ve got an idea, and a vision, and a message; what to get across. It’s a difficult thing actually doing that across a body of work [on] an album,” he admitted. “I’m nervous, but also really excited for the fans to hear it.”
Tomlinson has always had his fans in mind throughout his career, recently describing his supporters as “consistently incredible,” so it’s understandable that he’s taking time to make sure he can deliver music that’s worthy of them. Still, we can’t help but hope the album is here soon!
