Shawn Mendes is one of the many young talents taking over the music world, but he knows that he has to continue to grow.
After releasing his second studio album in 2016, and currently crushing it on on his Illuminate World Tour, Mendes seems to have performing down to a science. Despite his ease on stage and his love for both small and large venues, the Canadian singer admits there is one thing he is still trying to perfect — and it’s a big goal of his.
“As the tours get bigger, I become a lot more obsessed with making sure that the shows are good enough to be on the stage of an arena,” Mendes told Paper magazine in regards to getting bigger and better as an artist.
Mendes is completely aware that his star power is continuing to expand, and even though he has made fans at his shows very happy with surprise performances by singers like Ed Sheeran, he wants to impress his audience on his own, every single time.
“I feel like the more people get to know me and with my name starting to really get out there, I find in a good way pressure to really show up when it comes to my live performances,” he added.
We totally understand how much pressure the 19-year-old singer must be under to continue to go out on stage and wow everyone in attendance, but based on his recent chart-topping success, he must be doing something right.
In fact, just last week Mendes earned the title of “First artist under 20 to land three number one songs on the Adult Pop Songs Chart,” so ya, he’s killing the music game. If Mendes continues to work on his songs and stage presence, there’s no telling what he will do in the music world!
