Louis Tomlinson might not have a release date for his debut solo album, but he does have a vision for what it will entail, and we’re totally here for it.

During a visit with iHeartRadio this week, Tomlinson opened up about his solo career, his first single, “Back to You” featuring Bebe Rexha, and how exactly he wants his upcoming record to shape up.

Although he’s been keeping a lot of details under wraps in regards to the tracks on the forthcoming album, the British singer revealed that he’s been drawing inspiration from Arctic Monkeys and Oasis, and that their style of writing has definitely influenced his own music.

“It’s very matter of fact, and that’s kind of the way I live my life, with my heart on my sleeve,” Tomlinson told iHeartRadio about his writing style as inspired by those two bands. “So, I’m trying to make an album that says that.”

Tomlinson also shared a key detail about the album that might surprise fans.

“It’s a little ambitious, but I’d also like the album to be able to play top to bottom, chronologically, so you get to know my story for the last two or three years,” he said.

While Tomlinson has previously teased that his solo music will give fans a sense of who he really is, the chronological approach implies fans can expect the album to unfold like a story. In this case, Tomlinson’s story.

“I think that there are little things that I think different people will take different things [from], I suppose. But the album in general is me just being really honest,” he explained. “And there are certain songs that are me really trying to humanize myself and say, ‘I’m just like you guys.’ And I think coming from that kind of perspective, it’s going to be interesting for them. I think there will definitely be certain events that maybe they didn’t know that happened.”

More insight into the life of Tomlinson sounds awesome, don’t you think? Plus, doing a complete record in chronological order is the perfect way to depict the singer’s post-One Direction life.

Now all we need is that release date!
