If the creator of Suits has his way, the USA series won’t be wrapping up anytime soon.

During an interview with Deadline, Suits creator Aaron Korsh had nothing but good things to say about the future of the series. Despite the fact the stars of the show (which includes Gabriel Macht, Patrick J. Adams and Meghan Markle) only have contracts through season 7 (aka the current season), Korsh is ready for more — and he’s planning on getting it.

“I’m always operating under the assumption that we’ll be back next year. It’s never been wrong yet, obviously one day it will be wrong and when that time comes, I’ll know well in advance,” Korsh told Deadline when asked whether or not he’s writing the season 7 finale with a season 8 in mind.

Fans are currently wrapping their heads around the midseason finale, but of course Korsh has to be focused on the next step for the drama, which means the season finale. What will that entail, you ask? You’ll have to wait and see. But what we do know is that it will be done under the assumption that more Suits is coming your way next season.

“We always try to end on something that’s an end of a chapter, not the end of a series,” Korsh explained. “I’m highly confident that we’ll be back for season 8, so I’m planning it as end of chapter.”

Confidence is key, and Suits fans can certainly rest a little easier knowing Korsh’s plan for season 8. Here’s hoping the legal drama does get picked up for more episodes!

Suits will return for the rest of season 7 in 2018 on USA.

(People’s Choice and USA are both part of the NBCUniversal family.)
