Over the years on The Big Bang Theory, there have been a lot of great guest stars that fans have come to know and love. Luckily, season 11 will be full of some of those familiar faces, and one particular guest star that we haven’t seen in a while: Regina King!
Ahead of season 11, which premieres tonight, showrunner Steve Holland sat down with TV Guide and shared a few secrets about what’s to come this season, including the fact that King will in fact be reprising her role as Janine Davis — the Human Resources woman at Caltech.
“She’s great, and we’ve tried to have her back earlier, but she’s so busy all the time that it’s really tricky to get her on the show, but whenever she’s available she always loves coming to do it and we always love having her,” Holland told TV Guide of King’s return to the show. “So, I was so glad that it worked out.”
King’s character, Janine, was introduced back in season 6, when Sheldon (Jim Parsons) got the entire group into trouble with Human Resources. The last time we saw Janine was during season 8. Luckily, fans won’t have to wait long for her return in season 11 — she’ll be back in the second episode.
Since we know that episode 2 of season 11, “The Retraction Reaction,” has to do with Leonard (Johnny Galecki) saying something in a radio interview that the University doesn’t approve of, perhaps Janine will have to step in once more as the head of Human Resources to hash it out. Here’s hoping Leonard doesn’t get fired, and that King’s return is as hilarious as always!
The Big Bang Theory returns for season 11 on September 25, 2017 (tonight!) on at 8 p.m. on CBS.
