There are some big changes coming to The Goldbergs in season 5 that are bound to make fans of a certain member of the family incredibly happy!

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, actress Wendi McLendon-Covey teased that fans of her character Beverly can expect to see the matriarch of the family step out in a pretty big way.

Dubbed “The Bevolution,” the upcoming story arc promises to be one of the most exciting moments of this season, and McLendon-Covey is looking forward to seeing what that means for Beverly just like the rest of us are.

“I hope it means she finds a life outside of pestering her kids,” the actress told Entertainment Weekly.

Fans who love watching as Beverly constantly meddles in her kids lives don’t need to worry though. While the “Bevolution” is imminent, McLendon-Covey teased that she’s positive we’ll still see a lot of Beverly pestering her children.

“She was put on Earth to smother those children,” said McLendon-Covey. “But I’m hoping she takes a self-defense class, maybe starts a neighborhood watch. I look forward to her mid-life crisis and digging her way out of that.”

Though the actress isn’t giving too much away with regards to what we might see Beverly go through, one thing we do know is that the catalyst for change sparks when Erica (Hayley Orrantia) heads off to college.

We already got a taste of how hard it was for Beverly to let go— after all, she insisted on spending the first night in her daughter’s dorm! That being said, we’re looking forward to seeing how the situation continues to manifest itself in whatever Beverly gets up to this season!

The Goldbergs airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
