Shawn Mendes is only 19 years old, and he already has two albums that have hit number one on the Billboard 200, so is he ready to take some time off? The short answer, no! In fact Mendes just confirmed that he is already working on album number three, and we can’t wait for it.

The Canadian singer has been teasing the “vibe” of album number three on Twitter recently, and even revealed that his goal now is “to create anthems for people,” but this is the first time he’s actually admitted that he is already working on his next studio album.

During a recent interview with Billboard, Mendes was asked where he saw himself going from here, and although he didn’t know exactly what the future holds, it does include new music.

“Haha hard to tell but I’m making album 3 right now and I just hope it can be even better and bigger than the last one,” Mendes told Billboard.

Throughout the interview, the “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back” singer talked about his early career, as well as confirming album number three, and admitted that he did worry that he wouldn’t be taken seriously as a young songwriter.

“Definitely, it’s hard being a young artist and being taken seriously. I still feel I have a ways to go because there’s always that stigma,” Mendes revealed. “But the reality is that as I’ve grown, my fans grow with me, and I think eventually it will come.”

As for his biggest accomplishment since starting out back in 2012, the Ontario native picked something personal that fans have also been able to witness.

“That’s hard to say but I think this latest tour and just the growth I feel I’ve gone through this year would be it,” he said.

Mendes has grown so much since he broke into the music world — he’s written and performed two successful albums, after all — and with another record on the way, he can only get better!

Correction: An earlier version of this post incorrectly stated that Shawn Mendes is 21. He is 19. The story has been updated.
