Get excited, Downton Abbey fans, because big news is coming your way… and we can only hope it’s about the potential Downton movie.
There has been a lot of chatter recently about a possible Downton Abbey movie, featuring the entire cast of the hit ITV series, and now we have some news about it. Well, technically we have a tease that could be about the movie, and it’s giving fans a lot to talk about.
“Big news is on its way! Check back soon for a special announcement,” Downton Abbey’s Facebook page posted on Monday (Oct. 2) along with a picture lead characters, Robert Crawley, Earl of Grantham (Hugh Bonneville), Lady Mary Crawley (Michelle Dockery) and Violet Crawley, Dowager Countess of Grantham (Maggie Smith).
According to Digital Spy, there was also a similar note on Twitter, about this “special announcement,” but it has been taken down, which again is giving us more questions than answers.
Downton Abbey ended in 2015 (with a few episodes airing in the U.S. in early 2016) after six seasons on the air, and ever since fans and the cast has been clamoring for a reunion of some sort.
Dockery, who plays Lady Mary, recently told The Independent that “I’m positive something will happen at some stage,” and both Bonneville, who played the Earl of Grantham, and Joanne Froggatt, who played lady’s maid Anna Bates, have also spoken about their willingness to work on a revival, which has been great news.
Perhaps, this tease is finally the message fans have been waiting for. We will keep you updated once the announcement is made, and until then, why not watch a few episodes of the hit drama and practice your English accent?!
